Collaborating to Support Credit Unions
Community Impact Roundtables
These ICUF facilitated events provide an opportunity for Iowa credit union representatives
to gather and collaborate on the
philanthropic work of their credit unions.
Lending School Scholarships
ICUF offers annual scholarships for credit union employees to attend Lending School, offered by the Iowa Credit Union League.
The two-day training provides credit union employees who have daily interaction in the loan approval process the knowledge to improve their department's overall lending and sales results.
'People Helping People' Financial Coach Training Program
Launched in 2019 in collaboration with Adam Carroll, this program is aimed at arming credit union employees with the tools and knowledge to help support credit union members in financial distress. ICUF supports attendees by subsidizing a portion of the registration costs to attend, along with offering scholarships.
Congratulations to the 2024 Financial Coach Graduates!
Small Credit Union Grants
ICUF facilitates the small credit union grant to fund new technology, strategic planning, consulting services or registration and travel expenses to attend the annual Iowa Credit Union League Legislative and Regulatory Conference.
The Small Credit Union Grant is made possible thanks to donor support from Veridian Credit Union.
Applications are open for 2024 Small Credit Union Grant Funding. Learn more and apply here.
Advocating for Financial Well-Being
Capitol Hill Advocacy
ICUF supports mission-aligned legislative priorities at the State Capitol.
Current legislative priorities include: the Childcare Cliff Effect, Prize-Linked Savings programs and small dollar loan programs.
2019 Caregivers Association Wage Study Sponsor
Iowa is one of the fastest aging states in the nation. The need for home care workers will continue to rise in the next decade, however, Iowa does not currently have enough trained workers to meet this growing demand. According to the United Ways of Iowa 2018 ALICE Report, caregivers' wages were among the lowest in the state. With ICUF's mission led focus on financial well-being, we are proud to sponsor the 2019 Iowa Caregivers Association Wage Study.
ICUF teamed up with United Ways of Iowa and Alliant Energy to fund the 2018 ALICE Report. This report is a valuable tool in gaining perspective on the growing financial struggles of Iowa's families. ALICE is an acronym that stands for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed. These are working families who have income above the Federal Poverty Level (FPL), but cannot make ends meet each month.
The 2018 report provides a deep county-by-county analysis of ALICE families across Iowa during calendar years 2014-2016. Click here to learn more and download the full report.
