ICUF is dedicated to helping Iowa credit unions thrive so they can continue to serve their members and communities with strength and innovation. Through programs that support professional development, provide targeted funding, and encourage collaboration, ICUF helps credit unions build capacity, strengthen operations and expand their impact. These efforts not only empower credit union staff to grow in their roles, but also ensure that credit unions of all sizes can continue advancing financial well-being for Iowans across the state.
Lending School Scholarships
ICUF is committed to supporting the professional growth and expertise of Iowa credit union employees. Each year, ICUF offers scholarships for staff employed by credit unions who are members of the Iowa Credit Union League (ICUL) to attend ICUL’s Lending School. The event is an annual two-day, hands-on training designed for those involved in the loan approval process.
Through this opportunity, participants gain valuable knowledge and practical tools to strengthen lending performance, enhance member service, and improve their credit union’s overall financial health. By removing barriers to professional development, ICUF helps credit union employees grow their skills, advance their careers, and ultimately better serve members across Iowa.

Small Credit Union Grants (September-November)
The ICUF Small Credit Union Grant program supports the growth and sustainability of Iowa’s smaller credit unions, helping them better serve their members and communities. With funding made possible through generous donor support from Veridian Credit Union, this grant provides resources for technology upgrades, strategic initiatives, staff training and professional development: empowering small credit unions to strengthen operations and enhance member service.
By investing in small credit unions, we collectively invest in the future of the Iowa credit union movement. These grants help ensure that credit unions of all sizes can continue to deliver on their people-helping-people mission, expanding access to affordable financial services and improving financial well-being across Iowa.
