Iowa Credit Union Foundation Receives $20,000 Donation in Memory of Warren Morrow

The Iowa Credit Union Foundation is pleased to announce it has received a $20,000 contribution from Affiliates Management Company, the holding company of the Iowa Credit Union League, in honor of Warren Morrow, the late CEO and Founder of Coopera.

"Warren had a tremendous impact on all of us and the credit union industry. Beyond Coopera, the company he founded and led, one of the most significant legacies he left us is undoubtedly in the Iowa Credit Union Foundation," said Patrick S. Jury, CEO, Iowa Credit Union League and AMC. Coopera is part of AMC's family of operating companies.

Warren was instrumental in ICUF's ability to obtain a $428,323 grant that provided matching funds to launch Iowa's first Credit Union Individual Development Account program and created ICUF's first Executive Director position five years ago. Read More

Do you have the next great Iowa entrepreneur in your membership? Are you looking for a way to recognize young, outstanding members? Consider a Business Horizons (BH) sponsorship for 2012!

Business Horizons is a one-of-a-kind, statewide high school entrepreneurship and leadership program and is one of several leadership programs administered by the Iowa Association of Business and Industry Foundation.

The 2012 program will be held July 15-19 on Central College's campus in Pella. This hands-on, action-oriented program is attended by more than 100 students who are provided the opportunity to live on campus and experiment with business ideas.

Attendees work in teams to:
  • develop a product
  • make financial decisions (via a business simulation) about their operations
  • create a marketing plan and a television infomercial
  • prepare and deliver a 10-minute formal presentation to investors
  • participate in a trade-show
Students will enjoy meeting successful business leaders and working with their peers to learn the traits and strengths for becoming successful entrepreneurs. College credit is also an option. Download the brochure for more information.

Credit Union Sponsorship Options
There are two options your credit union can consider.
  1. You can sponsor one student for $1,000 and be an Angel Investor.
  2. You can be a business partner and provide $750 toward a scholarship.

Your credit union could also choose to choose your own scholarship recipient. Here are the steps you could take:

  • Promote BH at your credit union
  • Set a deadline and take BH applications
  • Select your scholarship student
  • BH will offer to the rest of your applicants the discount price of $275 for BH application.
