Grants & Scholarships

Children's Miracle Network (CMN)

CU4Kids Holiday Icon Campaign

Credit Unions for Kids' final national campaign for 2012 encourages credit unions to provide members the opportunity to display their name on a winter-themed paper icon in exchange for a dollar donation to your local CMN Hospital. Each credit union can take part for as long or short as they please. The seasonal designs, snowflake, snowman, and football, are great to keep past Christmas.

Year-end Donations

Credit unions should send in their year-end CMN donations by December 27. These donations can be sent directly to the Iowa Credit Union Foundation.

Donations Still Needed for Sandy Relief
The National Credit Union Foundation (NCUF) encourages additional support from the credit union community to continue assisting credit union people affected by Hurricane Sandy.
ICUF made a $500 donation to the cause. Since October 31, NCUF has raised and distributed more than $260,000 to credit union employees, volunteers, and members, but there are still numerous applications for assistance remaining. Click here to make a donation.

IDA Success Story
Tunnga and her uncle Achako spent ten years in a refugee camp in Ethiopia before coming to the U.S. five years ago. Tunnga works as a meat cutter at Tyson Foods in Perry, IA.
Tunnga and Achako learned about the Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity Homeownership Program from friends who are current Habitat Homeowners. They have both worked diligently to pay off debt and save for closing costs as well as attend the required Blueprint to Homeownership classes and work on the construction of Habitat houses and in the ReStore.
In addition, Tunnga enrolled in the Credit Union Family Partnership program at Veridian Credit Union. This allowed her to have her savings matched toward her home purchase. A portion of the matching funds came from United Way of Central Iowa.
Learn more about the IDA program.
When Tunnga and Achako purchase this house in December, they will be the first in their families to own a home. Read more.

ICUF was established in 1995. Its mission is to help Iowans build wealth, responsibility and independence, with the vision to eliminate poverty in the State of Iowa. Click here to join our mailing list.
