Executive Women International Adult Students in Scholastic Transition Scholarship Program — 

The Des Moines chapter of Executive Women International (EWI) has financial aid available for education through our ASIST (Adult Students in Scholastic Transition) program. Scholarship grants totaling $4,000 will be given this year. Applications are screened and then anonymously voted on by EWI Des Moines Chapter – Scholarship Committee members. Award winners will be notified by Monday, May 27, 2013 and scholarship monies will be available to the appropriate programs by August 2013. Award recognition for the scholarship recipients will take place at the EWI chapter meeting in September 2013.

The purpose of the scholarships is to provide assistance to adults (male and female) in the community who are in transitional situations or who are in need of financial aid in order to further their education. The recipients may select the career path of choice.

The criteria to be used to pre-screen the candidates will include financial need, head of household with small children, and/or at-risk adult.

Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Utilize personal assessment and/or re-entry programs available through colleges, community agencies, service groups, or career professionals
  • Clearly define career goals and objectives
  • Specify the education requirements to attain above goals and objectives
  • Provide recent tax return
  • Applicant must be residing in the boundaries of an EWI Chapter. For the Des Moines Chapter they are Polk, Dallas, Story and Warren counties.

EWI is a professional business organization that brings together key individuals from diverse businesses for the purpose of promoting member firms, enhancing personal and professional development, and encouraging community involvement. EWI is comprised of 70 chapters throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe.  The Des Moines chapter is made up of 40 member firms.
